Out of Touch

So, I'm literally standing in line to check my bag at the airport - yes, I'm one of those people who is always doing something or other - but that's just it. I'm on my way across the Atlantic to England and Scotland to do two weeks of hiking and camping and NOT A LOT ELSE. :). I am equal parts excited and anxious-I've been tying up loose ends for the past couple weeks, just sure I'll drop the ball if I don't send one more e-mail. And then I think...you know, my inbox will really be ok without me!

I was reading the other day about the equinox-we have one coming up in September-and I learned that one of the side effects on Earthlings is technological disturbance. When the sun is directly 'behind' a satellite in relation to Earth, it floods the satellite with energy-creating noise and disruption. So if you find yourself getting frustrated with certain gadgets mid-September, that might be why.

And it made me think... Those very same gadgets, which I use constantly for staying in touch with the world, organizing myself, being on top of things-sometimes they actually create so much noise that I lose touch with the person that's using them-ME! My point is that I'm really looking forward to 'unplugging' for a couple of weeks and listening for what else there might be. I'm writing some new material, and a little time away is very good for getting those creative juices flowing.

So I'm signing off for a bit. I'll be somewhere in the hills, writing new songs...finding new inspirations...and just being.

Sometimes you have to be a little out of touch to get back in touch.

The last line makes so much sense. Sometimes you have to be a little out of touch to truly get back in touch, realizing what is so important along the way.
